Hey Michelle, I have always been proud of America.

Unlike Michelle Obama, I love this nation. I am proud to be an American. Sure, sometimes I may not like things that happen now and again, but I have always been proud of this nation as a whole. How sad it must be to live in a nation you are not proud of.

I mean if I were a female African American who was able to go to an Ivy League school who was married to an African American lawyer who is US Senator, the son of an immigrant, yeah, I would be proud of this nation, but that is just me. I guess I am not as ‘enlightened’ as Michelle ‘forced to live in the US’ Obama.

So much for the uplifted, optimistic Obama spirit. BTW, Mrs. Obama is 44 so nothing has ahppened to make her proud of the US since at least 1982. Nothing.

The whole quote in context is: "What we've learned over this year is that hope is making a comeback. It is making a comeback and let me tell you something, for the first time in my adult lifetime, I'm really proud of my country. And not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change. And I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction and just not feeling so alone in my frustration and disappointment. I've seen people who are hungry to be unified around some basic common issues, and it's made me proud. And I feel privileged to be a part of even witnessing this, traveling around states all over this country and being reminded that there is more that unites us than divides us..."

Her words were first erroneously reported by the Boston Globe who have since corrected their reporting.

Here's a comment on another blog that expresses my opinion here:

I can't believe how "out of context" this is taken. As a parent, have you never said to your child "I am really proud of you" when he or she got an A. What you meant was that you were encouraged by the progress.

Exactly what Michelle was talking about.

But it doesn not change the fact that she is only proud of America, for the first time, if HER husband is elected.
You said it. She said, "It is making a comeback and let me tell you something, for the first time in my adult lifetime, I'm really proud of my country."

The context only explains WHY she is only now proud of America.

Must suck to live in a country you were never proud of... Of course as a Democrat, you understand that feeling. You guys have always hated America.

Her comments are an intresting insight to the left wing of the Dem party.

She did not say she was proud.. she said that this was the FIRST TIME she was ever proud of America, so using your idea, if a parent said to a child when he was older "This is the first time I have been proud of you" that child would realize that he or she had done NOTHING beofre to make that parent proud.

I do not hang my pride in self or nation on one person... BUT that is not what she said. She said this was the FIRST time she has been proud of America.

It shows how Liberals think.
