Wow. Lot's of similarities in some of this music. The "Spirit" v. "Led Zeppelin" comparison really surprised me.
However, what doesn't surprise me is that some artists derive "inspiration" from their contemporaries.
Of course, you have to figure many of these bands also have "behind the scenes" writers. The bands themselves might have no idea that they ripped off a riff.
I would argue that most of the older songs were actually wrttien by the band members... a concept that is lost on most modern day artists.
As for the Led Zeplin issue, this was acknowledged by Page and Plant years ago... So they fessed up. Sadly they lifted from others and it was their version that became the biggest song of all time.
